May 2026 - Trustee Vacancy

There is one vacancy for a Trustee to join our friendly team of volunteers. Be part of your community, share and develop your skills, and help us plan and oversee the running of our local village hall - click HERE for further details.

December 2025 - National Lottery Community Fund

The Trustees of Colbury Memorial Hall were really happy to announce that funding to replace the entrance doors was secured following a successful application to the National Lottery Community Fund.

The new doors replaced the old wooden doors and have improved the face of the building; they are fully glazed to allow more light into the foyer and make the entrance pleasant and welcoming. They also provide improved security, prevent heat loss, and reduce maintenance costs. We are very grateful to have been able to complete this work and benefit from the funding received; other grants are now being looked into so that further improvements can be made to the Hall (which is nearly 100 years old) enabling it to be kept as a community building and enjoyed by future generations.

November 2025 - Christmas Gift & Craft Fair

The Trustees of Colbury Memorial Hall hosted a Christmas Gift and Craft Fair on Saturday 29th November. We had lots of people making the most of the wonderful local gifts and products offered by our stallholders – there was such a variety to choose from. Ashurst WI provided ‘tea and cake’ – it is always a pleasure having them (and their cakes) at an event!

Ashurst & Colbury Scout Group had a successful Christmas Tree Festival in their Scout Hall at the same time, so there was fun for everyone!

We hope to make this an annual event, so look out for it next year!

August 2025 - The Barker-Mill Foundation

The Barker-Mill Foundation has donated £4 million over the last 30 years to local charities, schools, organisations and individuals needing support. Established from funds provided by members of the Barker-Mill family in memory of their father and grandfather, Peter Barker-Mill, the Foundation makes approx. 80 donations a year to those in the areas where the family has owned land for generations.

In June 2024, Colbury Memorial Hall received a donation of £5,000 from the Barker-Mill Foundation. This funding enabled vital repairs to be carried out to the cellar pump, drains, gutters and roof to combat water ingress. The works were completed in 2024/2025 and will prevent further problems. The trustees, hall users and wider community are very thankful to the Foundation for their support and kind generosity which will keep the Hall in good repair for future generations to use and enjoy.

Ashurst and Colbury Parish Council held their Summer Fete for the first time at Colbury Memorial Hall on Saturday 6th September. Thanks to the brilliant work of everyone involved (the organisers, volunteers, stallholders, entertainers and Scouts) the event was a great success and enjoyed by all. Special thanks go to the Southampton & District Transport Heritage Trust for providing a heritage bus transport link around the village.
