COLBURY MEMORIAL HALL
Charity No. 301786
Our Story
The manor of Colbury was acquired by John Mill in 1544, and the estate has been in the Barker-Mill family since then. Marianne Vaudrey-Barker-Mill gave the community a village hall, Colbury Memorial Hall, as a tribute to the memory of the young men of the estate who had died during the First World War, among whom was her eldest son, William Claude Frederick Vaudrey-Barker-Mill (Claude V. Barker-Mill). There are two plaques on the front of the building dedicated to the memory of those who died on active service during the First and Second World Wars. The hall was built in 1928, and is managed today on behalf of the local community by a group of trustees.
